DUBLIN - Miroslav Havel, for more than four decades the chief designer for Waterford Glass, has died at age 86.
Mr. Havel died at his home on Sept. 5 of heart failure, his family said.
He was born at Drzkov in what is now the Czech Republic.
When Bernard Fitzpatrick and Karel Bacik revived the Waterford company after World War II, Bacik invited Mr. Havel, a fellow countryman, to join the staff.
Along with designing glassware, Mr. Havel made crystal chandeliers for Westminster Abbey in London and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
