Pelé, a better player, couldn't pull it off in the 1970s. But then, Pelé wasn't married to Posh.
As the royal family of a celebrity- obsessed culture, Posh and Becks are the most famous couple in the world. I don't know how you measure that sort of thing, but it was on TV, so it must be true.
Becks is a good-looking Englishman whose ability to kick a ball is pretty much secondary to the fact that he is married to one of the Spice Girls, who sold 55 million records and starred in what is arguably the worst film ever made, "Spice World."
In 1998, David Beckham was unfairly blamed for getting England bounced from the World Cup after he kicked an Argentinian player in a fit of pique and got tossed from the game. The English wanted to kill Becks. It was the nadir of his career. Posh reassured Becks as only she could, saying, "At least your hair looked nice, babe."
Posh is painfully skinny, and child development specialists were concerned that her obsession with being rail-thin would have a negative influence on girls who idolized her. So, being a good scout, Posh went out and put on 10 pounds. They're called implants.
Posh says they named their firstborn son Brooklyn because she and David were in that great New York borough when they learned Posh was pregnant. It's probably a good and healthy thing for young master Beckham that his parents weren't relaxing in the Danish resort of Middelfart when they got the good news. Posh spent something approaching the GNP of New Guinea on Brooklyn's first birthday party.
Posh's singing career petered out after the Spice Girls broke up in 2001. She has since turned to fashion design. She also has a blog in which she shares her deepest, most private thoughts.
One recent entry: "Can I just say how incredibly proud I was to win the Glamour magazine Woman of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year awards?"
You sure can!
