Onion jam appetizer on toasts

Serves 8

3 tablespoons butter 4 large onions, thinly sliced 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste 1/4 teaspoon pepper, or to taste 1 baguette, sliced and toasted

1. In a large skillet, melt the butter and add the onions, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, for 20 minutes.

2. Turn up the heat and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes more or until the onions have melted.

3. Spoon the onion mixture onto the toasts and serve at once. Sheryl Julian
