Rachel McAdams took home three awards, including breakthrough female performance for her role as the top mean girl in ''Mean Girls" and best kiss for her rain-soaked smooch with Ryan Gosling in ''The Notebook."
McAdams's third award, for on-screen team, was shared with ''Mean Girls" costar Lindsay Lohan, who also received the award for best female performance.
''Napoleon Dynamite" was named best movie and star Jon Heder received two awards: breakthrough male performance and best musical performance for his awkward talent-show dance moves.
''I want to thank Michael Jackson, John Travolta, Justin Timberlake," Heder said, referring to the inspirations for his dance moves.
Other winners included Leonardo DiCaprio for male performance and Daryl Hannah and Uma Thurman for best fight in the ''Kill Bill Vol. 2" sequel.
Child actress Dakota Fanning won best frightened performance in ''Hide and Seek," and Dustin Hoffman got best comedic performance for ''Meet the Fockers."
Ben Stiller poked fun at the Hollywood tradition of speaking out for causes when he accepted the trophy for best villain for ''Dodgeball." Holding an egg, he spoke out against high cholesterol.
''Take a look at this little fella. He's killed more people than all the Hollywood bad guys combined," Stiller said. ''Crush cholesterol now."
The awards were based on fan votes.
Jimmy Fallon hosted the show at the Shrine Auditorium. Also performing were the Foo Fighters, Eminem, and Mariah Carey.
The ceremonies are to be broadcast Thursday.
