LOS ANGELES -- J. Edward Martin, a partner in an architectural firm that helped design some of downtown's most recognizable buildings, died Monday at his home, his family's firm announced. He was 88.
Since its founding 98 years ago by Mr. Martin's father, Albert C. Martin Sr., AC Martin Partners has designed buildings that include the Million Dollar Theater, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Building, Arco Plaza, and the Union Bank Building.
Mr. Martin's father also collaborated on the design of Los Angeles City Hall in the late 1920s.
