Alexander Mogilny's milestone moment couldn't have come at a better time.

Mogilny had three assists, including his 1,000th NHL point on a late tying goal, and Tomas Kaberle scored with 1:15 remaining in overtime to cap a stirring comeback for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who defeated the Sabres, 6-5, last night in Buffalo.

Mogilny's wrist shot from the right point, with Toronto goaltender Trevor Kidd pulled for an extra attacker, deflected off Gary Roberts and past Martin Biron for Roberts's 26th goal of the season with 37.2 seconds remaining in regulation to draw even.

The win snapped a two-game skid for the Maple Leafs, who moved into a fourth-place tie with Ottawa in the Eastern Conference with 90 points, 1 behind Northeast Division-leading Boston.

"Certainly it was a big win for us," Mogilny said.

Jochen Hecht had two goals and two assists for the Sabres, who blew a 5-2 lead after two periods.

Devils 3, Rangers 1 -- Patrik Elias scored his eighth game-winning goal of the season as New Jersey ran its unbeaten streak at Madison Square Garden to seven games (4-0-3).

Thrashers 1, Hurricanes 0 -- Dany Heatley's backhander beat Carolina goaltender Kevin Weekes with 3:17 left in overtime, keeping alive the slim playoff hopes of host Atlanta.
